A rotating product video for an e-commerce listing today requires either a turntable, tripod, and controlled lighting or a paid vendor who supplies them. In Hong Kong, one vendor lists product photography from HKD 50 per SKU for stills, with 360° work priced separately. Multiply that across fifty SKUs with seasonal refreshes, and the photography bill comes back twice a year.
On 1 September 2026, World Labs opened early access to Atlas, a model that takes between one and six ordinary photos and generates up to one minute of 1440p video with precise camera control. The user sets the camera path by geometry, not a text prompt. If Atlas handles casual phone photos of a product as well as it handles its launch demos, a seller could photograph a product on a table, specify a rotation, and have a usable video without the equipment or the vendor.
Access is by invitation only, with no public pricing and no named partners. No one outside World Labs' early-access group can test yet whether three phone photos under ordinary lighting produce a video that holds up on a product detail page next to studio-shot competitors.
A few photos in, a controlled video out
World Labs describes Atlas as "an omni model that we pretrained from scratch to natively operate on text, images, video, and 3D." For a product listing, the mode that matters is camera-controlled generation: one to six input images, a specified camera path, and up to one minute of video at 1440p.
Radiance Fields, covering the launch, cites a lower figure for reconstruction: "faithful reconstruction from as few as two or three images." That describes 3D reconstruction specifically, not video generation, and the primary source puts the video mode at one to six images. Three phone photos of a product is well within the input range for either mode.
Atlas also outputs 3D Gaussian splats and point clouds from one to dozens of input images. Other tools already use that format for 3D product viewers and AR try-on, though World Labs has named only its own product, Marble, as a use for Atlas's 3D output.
Rotating video lifts online conversion, though the data is American
The case for 360° product visuals comes almost entirely from U.S. retail data. Industry reports link 360° spin visualization to up to roughly 30% higher conversion over static images, with named cases at 22% (True Value) and 35% (The Home Depot) after adding 360° photography to product pages. Separately, survey data cited by eMarketer found that 83% of U.S. smartphone users called product images "very" or "extremely" influential to purchase decisions, and 29% named 360° photos as their preferred format.
No Hong Kong-specific conversion data surfaced in this research. On Amazon, rotating product content is an established listing feature. The platform offered 360° spin images for years before switching to 3D models in late 2023. A separate vendor market produces 360° spin video for sellers across platforms. But no data shows what share of listings in any given category actually carries rotating visuals.
The cost comparison is real but incomplete
On the cost side, the Hong Kong picture is concrete for stills but blank for video. Klaud9, an e-commerce photography vendor in Hong Kong, lists rates from HKD 50 per SKU for still product photos, with "360 Virtual Tour" as a separate service whose per-SKU pricing is not shown on the same page. That gives a still-photography benchmark from one vendor, not a market average. The per-SKU cost of a 360° shoot, the work a tool like Atlas would replace, is unknown.
A tool that generates a rotating video from the same phone photos a seller already takes for their listing could reduce or remove that cost, if the output quality is good enough for a product detail page and the price is lower than the vendor alternative. Neither condition can be checked until World Labs opens access and publishes rates.
What to test
Three questions will determine whether this kind of tool replaces the turntable-and-vendor workflow for a given product line.
Cost per video against current rates. No comparison is possible until pricing is published. The local benchmark is the HKD 50-plus range for stills, and whatever a vendor charges for a 360° shoot above that.
Output quality at listing resolution. Atlas generates 1440p video. Amazon, Shopee, and TikTok Shop all recommend or cap listing video at 1080p or below. The relevant test is whether generated video holds up at the resolution a marketplace actually displays, next to studio-shot competitors, not whether it matches studio quality in the abstract.
Input quality under real conditions. One to six photos is the stated input range for camera-controlled video. Whether three photos taken on a phone, under ordinary lighting, on an ordinary surface, produce a usable rotation is something only hands-on testing will answer.
A seller who photographs a set of reference products now, across different shapes, materials, and lighting conditions, would have a ready comparison set for testing if access opens.
